The Care-for-Rare Foundation

About the Care-for-Rare Foundation
for Children with Rare Diseases

Children with rare diseases are the "orphans of medicine". It often takes years for them to receive a correct diagnosis, and many diseases are still unresearched and cannot yet be adequately treated. Almost 8,000 rare diseases are currently known; in Germany alone, more than 2,000 children die each year as a result. Their fate is neither in the focus of the pharmaceutical industry nor of general biomedical research.

The Care-for-Rare Foundation takes care of these children. The foundation was founded in 2009 out of science and medicine and follows the vision that one day no child will have to die just because his illness is so rare!
